Is this crying normal/ serious?

I have a one month old baby. Sometimes when he's in his basket (having had milk, fresh nappy, all the usual things to keep him happy) he does these little bursts of crying that last for five seconds or less. Just enough time for me to get out of the chair and head over to the basket, only by the time I get there he's stopped and looks fast asleep. I go back and sit down and a few minutes later he does the same thing again! Is this normal? Does it mean he wants more milk or something? It's v confusing.

Sounds totally normal to me - babies make all sorts of noises in their sleep, he's probably dreaming.

I'm just wondering if I ought to be rushing to pick him up when he does this - or if I can leave him be with a clear conscience :)

If he stops after 5secs, looks fine & is still sleeping I definitely wouldn't rush to pick him up - my 10months really has to be roaring now for me to go to him when he should be sleeping but I was exactly the same as you when he was newborn and would feel guilty letting him cry for 30secs. Congratulations btw.

Falling through stages of sleep noises. My DD does this and has done since birth. We now wait and see if it extends into anything more, before moving off the sofa!

Totally normal, safe to ignore, you are damaging I!!!
