It's my DD (6yrs) school trip today. I've been dreading today for weeks. They're going to the seaside, this just fills me with dread, nerves, worry, you name it, i'm feeling it. I've obviously hidden all of those feelings from DD as i don't want her picking up any of my worries/fears. I dropped her off at school this morning, they were all so excited, i walked away smiling and then panic lol. I've got my phone turned on at work, hidden in a drawer (manager has kindly said thats fine as she knows i'm worried)

Right well first of all well done for hiding your anxiety from dd. Second of all - have a hug. She'll be home soon.

Sparklingbrook · 04/07/2012 11:20

Totally understandable to feel like that. We have all done it.

Get stuck into work or the whole day will drag. Look forward to picking her up, giving her a hug and hearing all the tales of what went on on the coach. Smile

Thank you :) can't wait til i finish work so i can go and get her. Know i'll be giving her a big hug when i get her lol. Dreading her last year in this primary school, they go away for a week, a whole week! What a mess i'll be lol. The morning so far, thankfully has gone fast. I work with children myself, so it has no choice but to go fast haha :)

My DD went away for a week in her last year of primary. I worked late without having to organise childcare (or feel guilty!), drank wine with friends, went to see a film she would have had no interest in.(not all on the same night though!)

I was delighted to see her back but it was actually a lovely break for both her and I. It will get better!

IawnCont · 04/07/2012 11:26

Oooh it's horrible and completely ridiculous but I got like this too. They went to the zoo and I worried no-one would watch him and he'd put his hand through the lion enclosure Blush :o

Sparklingbrook · 04/07/2012 11:27

It does get easier. My PFB (13) went to Germany for the week two weeks ago. I still had a stressy thread about it on here though. Grin

Yes, I've felt that worry too, she'll have a great day. DS2 went on his first school trip which happened to fall on his 5th Birthday, when he got home he told me that he sat next to Archie on the coach on the way home, but when he woke up Grin he had Mrs Turner next to him, - I imagined he must have dosed off and was probably flopped on poor Archie's shoulder so they put a teacher next to him.

He was fine and happy, - they really do look after them very well - constantly head counting them all Wink

Just wonderi g why you're so worried?
Has something happened?

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 04/07/2012 11:47

Luckily I got to go on both my girls' first school trips. I understand how you feel though. It gets better though, although I am nervous for next year when my DD goes on a 2 night trip!

valiumredhead · 04/07/2012 14:40

Mine is on an over nighter - my house is sparkling, washing all done and put away. Dh is taking me out for dinner so I won't worry Hmm Grin
