My 6 month old likes to sleep with a pillow

Does anyone else have a young baby who does this? I know it isn't the done thing till a child turns 12 months but he sleeps so much better with one than without.
He will wake 5-6 times a night without. Last night he had a pillow and woke once. I think the habit comes from sleeping on his cocconababy mattress which he has just out grown.

Not a pillow but the same kind of idea, dd has slept on top of a duvet since... I can't remember really, about 7 months I think for daytime naps, though we coslept at night til 11 months (is now 15 mo). It is well tucked in at the sides so can't come loose. I tried it as she hated the cot and just looked lost and uncomfortable on the bare mattress, and it did work wonders. When we started using it I was confident that dd could roll over and change position fine and wouldn't get 'stuck' with her face in it.

Thanks, had a terrible night last night regardless of pillow. Damn those new teeth!

My DD had a pillow from when she was born due to sinus problems. BUT it had to be kept tucked under her cot sheet. So she couldn't move it.

Can't you get a bigger mattress? A pillow really isn't a good idea while she is so young imo. Though lifeisshort's way of using it seems much safer.

My son has had a pillow since 4 months and he slept so much better with it. We only gave it to him because 1 he had a cold and 2 when he came into our bed in the morning, he fell straight back to sleep! It's under his fitted sheet so it doesn't move :) He's 10.5 months now and a bit of a waste of time being in there at the moment due to him sleeping in every position possible bar on his pillow (but still does 13-14 hours)
