Is this normal?

Posting here and in childrens health to try to get traffic. Ds is 14 weeks old and woke today with a bit of a cough and sniffle. He's drinking as much milk as usual but i'm worried that he's very sleepy as the days gone on. I'm a bit reluctant to take him to the gp as i took him with a cough at 6 weeks and was made to feel like i was time wasting so i thought i would ask here if the sleepiness is normal for a baby with a cold? tia

If he is drinking well, so not dehydrated, and temperature is not too high, then don't worry. You sleep more when you aren't feeling great and so will you ds.

hope he is feeling better soon

thank you - no problems apart from the cold so i thought he might just be sleeping it off but its nice to get some reassurance . He'll probably have me up at 5 feeling better and ready to play!

If you're worried go to a different GP. All the ones at my local practice would far rather you went along and they reassured you the child was OK than you sat at home worrying or - worse - you didn't ask for help and the child turns out to be sick. If yours told you you were wasting their time, that is a very poor GP.

My ds just sleeps and sleeps when he has the cold i think it's pretty normal. I would ring your HV if your worried if they think you should go to GP they will tell you and if GP gives you any rubbish tell them HV refered you.
