I would love to study History. Good luck. You must be so excited.

crazynanna · 26/06/2012 22:11

Well done!

Dd the same...I am as proud of you as I am of her! Smile

hermionestranger · 26/06/2012 22:15

Thanks everyone! I'm so excited! Scared, well apprehensive, but excited!

One of my course colleagues is going on to study the same course as me so at least I have a friendly face and that also means I won't be the oldest! Grin

crazynanna · 26/06/2012 22:20

DD is worried about being one of the oldest, too

hermionestranger · 26/06/2012 22:22

On all seriousness when I went on the open day I asked the student representatives about mature students and they said that really they didn't even notice people's ages. They were just other students which was reassuring.

OP posts:
crazynanna · 26/06/2012 22:41

That's good.Smile

DD's married with 3 dcs' and is worried she will be seen as the "old bird"! Grin

Good luck...you have really done so fantastically well Smile

hermionestranger · 26/06/2012 23:46

Congratulations :)

I am in the same position, had a hell of a year with terrible health but somehow managed to stay the course and passed it :)
Also off to do history, well Ancient and medieval, what Uni are you going to?

hermionestranger · 27/06/2012 08:19

Well done Babydubs, it's so
Much more challenging to have done it with outside responsibilities and issues isn't it? I'm off to the University of Manchester to do History with integrated Masters. I still can't believe that I have done that, me who would never amount to much. (according to some of my old teachers Sad) I'll show them!

Many congratulations to all. :) You're going to have a wonderful time at your respective universities I'm sure.

Enjoy your courses, the time whizzes past so quickly!

It's two years since I gained my Access qualification and I'm now nervouslywaiting for my 2nd year university exam results!

MissMogwi · 27/06/2012 10:43

Well done! It's a great feeling isn't it!

I did the same and I've just finished my second year at MMU. It has flown by so far.

Good luck Wine Smile

Tangfasticlady · 27/06/2012 14:21

Brilliant news. I am a mature student at Manchester at the moment and loving it. Do you mind if I ask if you did your access course in Manchester too? DH would like to study too and is considering options. Trafford is our local college.

hermionestranger · 27/06/2012 18:46

Hi Beehiving I'm in Tameside so did my access course at Ashton.

OP posts:
MissMogwi · 27/06/2012 19:14

I live in Tameside too, and did my Access course at Tameside college. Did you have a lovely tutor called Joe?

MissMogwi · 27/06/2012 19:16

Ah maybe you mean Ashton Sixth form?

hermionestranger · 27/06/2012 20:36

MissMogwi I did! We're taking him out for a drink tomorrow night!

It's Tameside college not the sixth form.

MissMogwi · 27/06/2012 21:10

Aw Joe is awesome. We all need a mini Joe for Uni to give us his inspirational speeches!

Best teacher I ever had.

hermionestranger · 27/06/2012 21:25

Maybe I'll kidnap him and keep him in my garage to keep getting me through! SmileSad

He's been brilliant, especially the week of the shite marks and two deaths. That was a bad week, but he got me through. We've bought him an amazon voucher from the class. Grin

OP posts:
MissMogwi · 27/06/2012 22:17

We did that too! So he can buy even more books bless him. Whenever I see a student from my access course we all say how great Joe was- such is his awesomeness. Grin

Did you study Sparta and then Rome? I loved that.

Sounds like you've been through a lot this year, enjoy the break before September. Well done again!

hermionestranger · 27/06/2012 23:24

Yes we did! Ds1 has a Greek workshop in Friday and had to dress up. Yes he is going as a spartan! Grin

I loved Rome! Loved it!
