Selling second hand nappies

Can anyone recommend somewhere I could try to sell my nappies? Seriously need to clear out, for financial and space reasons (and for not-having-a-dc-in-nappies reasons too). I had them all listed on Cloth Nappy Tree, but as of today, that site's no more. It's been shut down. I had a look at the Used Nappy Company, and there didn't seem to be an awful lot of traffic on there. So. Recommendations, please, preferably ones that don't require a fee!

There's a facebook group- search for Preloved nappies. And I sell all mine on ebay. You have to list them as new but I make it clear in the description that they are used and have sold loads recently like this.

IMcHunt · 26/06/2012 21:33

Oh that's really helpful, thanks! It's so annoying - I was a whisker away from selling the lot this morning, then Cloth Nappy Tree shut down mid-conversation. Permanently...

What has happened to CNT then? There was no warning, it just vanished!

I don't know. There's a thread entitled 'time to go', last post 6.30 today, saying that it was taking a toll on their family, health, etc, and it was time to call it quits. Only 11 replies though, so I guess most users won't have seen it. There's nothing on the front page to explain either.
I'm actually pretty frustrated - I know that if they're having problems, then they had to do what was right for them, but some notice wouldn't have hurt. I'm having problems at the minute too, and that was one bit of admin I thought I had sorted. And now I'm back to square one, and won't be getting the 60-odd quid for a big stack of nappies that I was 1 PM away from getting this morning, and I really needed that money...
Ah well. 1st world problems and all that...

Bummer. Have you joined the FB group?

IMcHunt · 26/06/2012 22:50

Just joined it tonight. I've not posted anything yet - I had someone buy 2 nappies from me, and when she got them today, she PM'd me to ask how much for the rest, which was the point at which it broke. So I've emailed her paypal address to tell her, and am giving her a day or so to get back to me, to see if she still wants them (given the site closing wasn't her fault) then I'll post them on fb when I've got time. Grr though. I spent a whole evening listing them the other day - if I'd known the site was about to close, I needn't have bothered...

I can still see the for sale section on Cloth nappy tree it must be back up.

IMcHunt · 27/06/2012 14:07

It's not. You can still see it, but it's impossible to post or log in.

I'm on the face book groups they're very good. Must be frustrating you were so close to selling but thought I'd just post to give you some hope that you will be able to sell!

saladcravings · 27/06/2012 17:04

Reading with interest, as I have just retrieved a huge bundle of nappies from the loft to sell! It's 3 years since I bought them though, I have no idea how to price them.

I've requested to join the facebook group 'pre-loved nappies' - are there any others I should join or is that the best one?

I have used the Used Nappy Company a couple of times, but that was a while ago. It sure does look quiet now...

AdmiralBenson · 28/06/2012 11:59

Thanks for the info - I also posted on Cloth Nappy Tree and was wondering what had happened. I am up to my ears in nappies, desperately need to offload some!

muslimah28 · 28/06/2012 12:29

There's also ' for sale- pre loved cloth nappies' and ' wanted- pre loved cloth nappies'

saladcravings · 28/06/2012 14:52

ooh, that 'for sale' one looks good. Will start posting my stash on there, see if there is any interest!

LeBFG · 30/06/2012 10:03

That's why I can't log on CNT!! I just bought some nappies and wanted to thank the seller. Good job the transaction went through, as it now seems, just before they went down.

Problem with the other sites is they are all auctions (at least, that's what people always opt for). If I want cheap, used nappies I want to negotiate a price not sit on tenderhooks wanting for the end of the auction perhaps four days away. That's probably just me though, I never got on with ebay.

muslimah28 · 30/06/2012 10:29

The fb groups aren't auctions. I'll be selling some soon and I agree naming a price is better for buyer and seller :)

LeBFG · 30/06/2012 10:47

OK - will sign up asap then! thanks

itsnotyouitsmeals · 30/06/2012 14:11

Not sure if I am allowed to mention another mum site but baby centre has a pre loved board. You have to ask to join though. HTH. x

saladcravings · 30/06/2012 14:51

I've sold a couple on the facebook group already. Quicker to list on there than eBay too! Yay!

MrsJamin · 08/07/2012 13:46

thank you all so much for posting this info - I was going mad this morning not being able to log into CNT. How very strange that they gave no notice for pulling it, leaving buyers and sellers hanging. A bit irresponsible really. Especially seeing as the site is still up, just not letting you log in. Have requested to join some facebook groups. I have over £100 worth of Itti Bitti D'Lish to flog!

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 11/07/2012 21:10

am I being really dim?

Have found the facebook groups, but how does selling on groups work then? How do you arrange payment/make sure you don't get ripped off?

Eskarina · 12/07/2012 21:21

There's also this one And these also have a used nappy section though I think you need to have 30 odd posts to be allowed to list something for sale
Bummer about CNT

IMcHunt · 12/07/2012 21:25

Aaand CNT is back up! Excellent.
TeWi, you just get the buyer to paypal you (using the 'goods or services' option) then you send it recorded delivery, so they can't say it didn't get there (unless it didn't...).
