Please help me think of some ideas of some fun things we can do. I seem to have a mental block at the moment and after breakfast in bed I have got a bit stuck.

Perfect. We're going to need more danish pastries, I can tell.

HipHopOpotomus · 15/06/2012 17:16

Have a card, not handmade due to sickness bug impinging on creativity, and will do a run to town tomorrow to get a cheesy photo printed of DD and DH and put in a frame, preferably cheesy which as DD will have chosen it he HAS to put it on his desk at work.

No breakfast in bed, but might give him the lie in (means he gets both weekend lie ins as his night off tonight) and we'll go out for the day weather permitting.

My DH is away working Sad, so me and the DCs are off to my parents' for lunch. Mum doing main course, me doing pud. It will be a day of eating, sitting around and doing nothing. Which of course all the adults will enjoy Grin

Taffeta · 15/06/2012 22:23

A normal Sunday for DH of cricket and football with DS. The DC have spent cash today in the PTA shop on utter shite Father's Day trinkets and chocolate for DH and DD has made him a very sweet card.

I've sent my Dad a whoopee cushion that says Happy Farters Day on it. Grin

Travelling from the Northern Irish coast to Dorset.

experiencethis · 15/06/2012 23:02

breakfast in bed, handmade card from DD, his football team PJs

ceeveebee · 15/06/2012 23:09

Well I thought I'd feed the babies, change the babies, then make him a slap up breakfast, clear dishes away, do some laundry, feed the babies, change the babies, cook a 3 course Sunday lunch, clear up, feed the babies, change the babies, do some more housework, bath the babies, feed the babies, put babies to bed. All this while DH potters round the garden and watches sky sports.

AKA exactly the same as every other Sunday.

ceeveebee · 15/06/2012 23:16

It just occurred to me you might me talking about your father rather than DH....
In which case nothing as he lives 250 miles away, have sent present and card and will give him a call Sunday morning

t0lk13n · 16/06/2012 14:46

I have just been to the cemetery to put flowers on my dads grave as he died last summer and this is the first Fathers Day without him. My husband is nights so will be in bed so the boys who are more or less adults will give him whatever they have bought him whenever and then we are going out to buy myself a new csr!

Cbell · 16/06/2012 19:51

As the proud owners of one DD aged 17 months we started our own Fathers and mothers Day traditions.

For me it is afternoon tea. This coud be out somewhere fancy or made by DD and DH as she gets older. For him it's trifle. He loves the stuff and I will be working my way through a myriad of recipes over my lifetime.

Hate the consumerism but love the idea of marking the day so start a new family tradition

pugsmum · 17/06/2012 07:16

get the arts and crafts out and make fathers day cards ,pics etc.

or bake cookies of cupcakes with fathers day messages etc!

I am really struggling to think of things for us as it was my birthday last week and i was spoilt rotten by dp , posh hotel in london , theatre, dinner , drinks in covent garden ! shopping (with minimal moaning ) and pub crawl in chelsea then back into london for afternoon tea at the RITZ!!

how do i top that with no money and a 18month old ..... with all my birthday celebrations i seem to have neglected to prepare for fathers day !!

oops :-/

BelfastBloke · 17/06/2012 07:36

730am on Father's Day and I've already cleaned both bathrooms in preparation for visitors, while the wife and kids continue to sleep upstairs.

Something's not right with this picture.

movelikejagger · 17/06/2012 08:41

bronze that is the coolest thing I have EVER seen for a Dad. Smile wow!

My toddler dressed up in fancy dress - a mixed up cowboy and pirate to wake up DH with strawberries in bed for breakfast and a balloon.

My dh was amazed that our teenagers actually got up by 9am to wish him happy fathers day! They also gave him cards and we had made a photo montage video of them growing up which he loved....he is now receiving guitar lessons from DS before we go out to ride segways this afternoon, he has no idea about this yet though. Making a big deal of being together as he often is at work weekends or kis are out busy so this is a special Sunday. Enjoy everyone.

mumhaveuseenmy · 17/06/2012 11:51

run around after him as normal an get him a card cause the kiz wont hehe

Springforward · 17/06/2012 11:58

A quiet morning while I took DS swimming, then a walk at the local NT place later I think.

pumpkinsweetie · 17/06/2012 12:03

Quite morning, made breakfast in bed with dcs for dh and gave him cards & present.

HSMM · 17/06/2012 14:39

DD made DH a card out of a napkin at lunchtime Grin

shinyblackgrape · 17/06/2012 20:33

I'm 17 weeks pregnant with first DC so not really a proper Father's Day for us yet. However, I bough DH a super dad cupcake from our favourite cupcake shop and he was delighted.

Imperfectionist · 17/06/2012 20:40

Not much really - DH got a card from 3-year-old DD, followed by nice breakfast in garden with pastries and other goodies, relaxing Sunday at home, let him watch tennis and football, he played with DD a lot in the afternoon while I had a nap! (Am pregnant). He's not really bothered about Father's Day, says it's just 'manufactured for commercial gain'.
