Colic calm gripe water

Has anyone had any experience of this product? Does it work?! And if so where is the best/cheapest place to get it? I think DS suffers from colic,have tried Infacol but it didn't make any difference. Or is there anything else I can try?

Hi cydonia I have used it bought it on ebay for about £20 with delivery not cheap but I was desperate! To be honest I think its really good. I ended up using it in every feed with twins so turned out to be very pricey but the colic did get loads better though it coincided with starting Gaviscon (for reflux) which may have been the reason. Its black and stains though absolute pain in the ass thats why I put it in the feeds (half doses) dont think its recommended though. Colic should get better on its own after 3 months roughly (for me it was 8 weeks not sure if down to colic calm?). I dont regret buying it and you could at least just try it?

I've tried loads infacol didn't work, gripe water he spat out, colief was so much faffing about it didn't work half the time and costs a fortune, only thing that worked was dentinox colic drops it's about £3 from chemist or supermarkets.

If you FF it can go straight in the bottle before it's given or by syringe if BF not as easy as doesn't taste very nice. It worked wonders for DS who suffered terribly from colic until i found this.

I give DS Gripe Water (boots own brand) in his milk & have done since he was about 7wks old.
It's made a massive difference to him & it's very cheap (about £2 a bottle), it's apple scented so at least when he does throw up it doesn't smell that bad!

I did try Infacol in his milk for a while but it didn't seem to work as well as Gripe Water.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't think you could get gripe water anymore ( though not sure why I thought this!) Might try that first as its cheap, plus am breastfeeding so might be easier to give than black stuff!

Cydonia, Woodwards isn't on sale anymore & Boots didn't have any in stock for ages (I had to bulk buy whenever I saw it instore)...so we all just had babies at the wrong time

Yeah I just looked on the website and they were out of stock. He's a bit young for those anyway as only 3 weeks so might try the dentinox.

Keep your eye out for gripe water and buy a few it is just water tho so it does tend to be spat out!

Started dentinox today, god it stinks! Makes DS smell like he's been eating the gherkins out of a big mac! Hope it works, last night was horrendous.

We only used dentinox for 1 bottle, found it wasn't that effective.

My DD2 (1 month old) has had awful colic. We still have her on infacol, but not sure of its effectiveness. Keep trying to get my hands on some dentinox, but places around here don't have it!

I got told that you can use infacol and gripe water at the same time without any harm... but I would ask your health visitor just to check. Was going to suggest all sorts of other things you could do, these are only for FF... as we have anti colic bottles, have different teats on the bottles... and we had her on comfort formula for a little while! Can't you tell I had a colicky baby the first time round! :o

To be honest I'm not 100% sure it is colic, just a conclusion I've come to as the crying comes on very quickly, he pulls his legs up to his tummy, goes very red and is very hard to get wind out of. He's also quite gurgly/sicky in his cot at night. So far so good with the Dentinox, less crying and more sleeping last night! :) Which could just be a coincidence, but we'll see!

Can u use infacol or grip water for babies who are 2 weeks old ? My little one cries all night and his face is red and draws his knees up or stiffen his body refusing to feed

Old thread but infacol is suitable from birth, gripe water from 1 month.

No, it worked in them olden days when it contained alcohol. Does nothing now!
