Training cups

Hi,

My DS is 12 months. I want to move him from bottles to cups but I am finding the choice of training cups overwhelming.

Any advice on how to go about getting rid of the bottle and which training cups to use each step of the way would be appreciated!

We just moved straight onto a small beaker, and didn't bother with the 'sippy cup' stage. The trick is to:
Get the smallest size you can,
Don't put more than a centimetre or so in at a time until they can manage to hold / drink
Use water, not milk the first few times as is easier to clean up
Have plenty of kitchen towel to hand

Yes, it will go over the face and down the neck for a few days, but they soon get the hang of it. Makes life a lot easier when you're out too.

Sorry, for getting them to use it, just let him see you use it first. They tend to be fairly imitative by the one year mark.
