Has anyone else read the the article on parenting in Woman's Weekly this week?

On parenting and overprotecting children. I could have wept, it says (mind you not sure where they are getting figures from) 'only 1 in 5 children play outside' - I repeat ONLY 1 IN 5 CHILDREN PLAY OUTSIDE. I can believe it, these past two weeks of school hols I have not seen a single child, apart from mine, play outside. Tragic.

Well, it's been tipping it down with rain here - playing inside is generally preferred in those circumstances! Mine were soaked on camp all last (BH) weekend, I've let them stay in for a lot of the week to dry off!

I appreciate it's been awful weather this week but it's the same, at least where I live, rain or shine.

Do they mean outside in their gardens, or out in the street?

IMO those are very different things...
