My kids have moments where they just scream and have a proper cat fight. How can I prevent this?

DC2 (26 months) also "attacks" DC1 (4 years) from time to time out of the blue. It is hard for me to draw the line between play fighting and the real thing.

I have similar issues, ds1 and 2 v similar ages where ds2 doesn't understand boundaries whereas dS1 generally does. I leave them to wrestle as I think it's important for boys' development, but if it does go too far and someone is hurt then you have to ask them to calm down a bit and say sorry to each other.

Also a really good idea for your DH/DP to do some wrestling so they see how an adult knows the boundaries.

And how to do you stop proper cat fights over toys, food, etc? screaming, scratching, hitting?

I had this problem, but recently started fighting them myself. I now fight them regularly and have even started wrestling DB. The other night actually we had a four person brawl in the kitchen. I won and gave my youngest a bleeding nose and 2 missing teeth.
