How old is too old for a wooden playhouse

It's DD1's 5th birthday this month and she hasn't expressed any preference over what she wants. We were thinking of going in with my mum and getting a joint present for her and DD2 (2 in Sept) a wooden playhouse like this. Do you think a 5 year old would get any mileage out of it? It's that or my mum is threatening to get her a laptop (which I do not want!).

Go for one with a decent amount of head room and maintain it properly.
My DD and DS used ours at different times for GCSE revision, as well as those Fortress of Solitude moments they have as teenagers.

I would perhaps get a slightly bigger one, 8x6 is the one I'm looking at, just so that there is room for both to play. My NDN has one this size and it fits our 2 and 3 year olds nicely. I think the 5x5 might be a bit of a squeeze for a 5 and 2 yr old.

I got one at 12. That was a bit late, as I was moving on from imaginative play to teenage things. Anything below that is good - plenty of imagination games are enhanced by an outdoor house.

We don't really have room for one much bigger, though I would live one of those 2 storey ones. For the kids I mean :)

Even the two storey ones are very low ceilinged.
I bought one when the boys were 2 and 4 and it was much played with up to about 8 or 9. Now it's a rather small shed.
My neighbour bought a proper garden shed, same floor area but good height and windows. She decorated it inside and out and it was a better den in the end than our purpose built playhouse. And now it's a proper shed.
