yep .. a flamin' kit for flamin' papier (yes papier) mache dinosaur

wasn't enough glue so had to make more
wasn't enough paper so had to rip up more
wasn't enough paint .. will have to buy more

(spent 2 hours fixing it after DS had gone to bed too)

much as I love you J .. I will never forgive you for this one

NotQuiteCockney · 21/02/2006 14:27

You're right, you're right, I'll stick to my guns.

Fact is, unless I knit it, I couldn't make anything as gorgeous as those other ones, anyway. Gah. I'm best off sticking to the pretense that it looks rubbish because I'm honorable and make my kid do it.

(I won the mum's race last year, by being honorable and not holding onto the bean bag that was on my head.)

Who needs a kit to do papier maché (accent specially for cod in her pedant outfit)? Seriously, I'm craft impaired, but even I can make flaming papier maché.

Maybe I should make a puppet with DS1 instead? (I do have crafting skills, just not the usual ones.)

Blandmum · 21/02/2006 14:29

We made some easter bonnets last week.....out of the cardboard vomit bowls you get in hospital! LOL they looked rather fetching.

Today we have watched videos, done some reading/sums/writing and the holiday homework. made some scobidous and done some dot to dot books.

ATM they are upstairs playing in 'The Den' (AKA the cupboard in ds's room. Amazing what giveing them a couple of torches will do.

We are out of quarentine tomorrow, than god!

NotQuiteCockney · 21/02/2006 14:29

Wait, do other schools not have the Easter Bonnet travesty? Is it just my DS1's strange little stuck-in-a-timewarp school?

i have to say, all my mates who are working mums bought dd1 playdoh, face paints etc etc for her birthday. they laughed as i cringed and hid it away and they harped "oh XXX loves painting and playdoh at nursery" well i bet they dont have any in the house though

TinyGang · 21/02/2006 14:30

Don't panic NQC Here's all you need to know.

Love the idea of vomit bowls. Used or un-used?

oliveoil · 21/02/2006 14:31

what do you do then cod?

I have been thinking that I don't do enough play and that they just see me scurrying between the washing machine and the hoover and screeching NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DD2 NO HITTING!

MB, where did you get them! I wonder if anyone will spot their origin.
I like doing inept arty stuff with ds and dd - more so than any of my SAHM friends.

Blandmum · 21/02/2006 14:32

Tinygang. Unused

Blandmum · 21/02/2006 14:33

Got them as a memento, from the staff, following dd's overnight stay in hospital last week. they looked very like cowboy hats tbh

we are anti-craft here (largely because we are all so inept)

would much rather drag mine out in the freezing cold than do painting/playdoh at home

TinyGang · 21/02/2006 14:34

Also there's always a stomach upset going round school isn't there - could come in handy. An Easter Bonnet brimming with sick. Happy holidays.

I am very inept. I can draw flowers, spiders, houses and birds, but only birds that look like 'm' iyswim.

My two FIGHT though and I find it tedious in the extreme..."She has the blue one I want the blue one but she has it" etc etc

foxinsocks · 21/02/2006 14:36

of course as I have tempted fate and it's now starting to piss down just in time for the school run (how typical)

Cappucino · 21/02/2006 14:36

I've got a book out the library for half term of 'fairy makes and dos' and I KNOW that what's going to happen is I end up sitting with dd in the middle of a load of bits of lovingly preprepared sticky bits shouting 'just stick the pigging bits on the pigging card and make the pigging picture, will you just, for heaven's sake'....

Flamesparrow · 21/02/2006 14:37

Does "have a big tub of chalks and go draw at that chalk board/back wall of the house in the summer" count as crafts? If so, DD's been doing crafts all day

TinyGang · 21/02/2006 14:38

It's funny what amuses them though. Dd likes washing my feet

Well it's cheap...

Twiglett · 21/02/2006 14:38

cappucino .. you are me .. but with fairies instead of piggin' dinosaurs (DD too young atm)
