(Please don't be offended - I know this isn't going to be the case for lots of people and I'm not trying to be insensitive, sorry if it offends)

DD is nearly 3, went for her 2 1/2 year development check today.

The history is that she was born at 32 weeks in an emergency, as her twin sister had died in utero and obviously they were afraid of infection. :( Fair amount of time in NICU etc, a very worrying and generally distressing time.

For her development check, she measured 48 months (the max. they test for) on all counts! I am so proud, her horrible start to life clearly hasn't help her back. :)

What do they test for at such a check, just out of interest, as mine have never had these

Thanks :)

DH took her, but apparently lots of colour matching ~(she narrated all the way through, describing the colours and shapes etc., when all they tested for was ability to match colours together), block tower building, standing on one leg, shape jigsaws, putting pegs into holes on a board, throwing, kicking, catching ball, pointing things out in books, describing pictures, brush dolly's hair, stir a tea cup...

That's wonderful, you have every right to be proud! X

Sounds wonderful to me, what a clever little girl - you are rightly proud Smile maybe if she is really ahead you could consider a gifted & talented scheme of some kind?

ShowOfHands · 01/06/2012 12:20

Aww brilliant. Smile Can I join you?

DS was a wee bit early and has his 7-9 month review in 2 weeks. They are going to check he can sit up and crawl as well as check he has some social interaction. I'm secretly v pleased that he will be WALKING into the appointment and can say about 15 words.
