hi there

i've bought some ikea fleece blankets, after much research seemed the cheapest way to buy fleece material, and i'm going to make my own fleece liners.

i bought a couple of cream fleeces, but also bought a red, green and orange. how can i make sure the colour won't run in the coloured ones? do i just need to prewash a few times? or maybe a hot wash? or treat it in some way?

i want them to be colour fast, as i need them to go in the same wash as the nappies and wipes, and these all have white/creams in them.

ive seen coloured fleece liners for sale, so i'm sure there's a way to do it but i'm sure you lovely MNers will have the answer!

many thanks!

I don't think you have to worry about the dye running as fleece is a synthetic fabric. Dyes are more likely to run with cheap cottons, linens, denim etc. I'd wash them once at 60 just to be sure but I don't think it'll be a problem. My liners are made from an old blue ikea fleece and as far as I'm aware it has never bled any dye.

Agree, fleece doesn't run, I used to pre-wash the whole fleece before cutting up to get rid of any chemical finishes, but after that you will be good to go.

i have fleece liners from ikea fleeces and they have never run (washed at 60 with white nappies)

also used them as backing for wipes

Ooh! I will be making a trip to ikea soon. I have been looking for nice fleece to add to my liner stash!
