When to get shoes for new walker?

My DD has gone from cruising to wanting to walk around with me holding one hand. Obviously with the nice weather she is wanting to do this when we are outside. So I feel her feet could do with a bit more protection when outside, rather than just socks or her wee leather pram shoe things.

I don't think she is ready for proper shoes yet and I am aware of the advice not to get proper shoes until they are properly walking for a few weeks. But what did you do when outside with your DC before they were ready for proper shoes?

thanks

Clarks cruisers.

V soft but with a proper (soft) sole.

I asked the same as you this time last year, and that was the MN recommendation :-)

We went straight to Clarks crawlers at 9 months as ds was walking by 10mo.

The foot bloke I see at the hospital said the crusiers/crawlers are the best thing for their feet and to get them to wear for them as long as possible or doodles or similar before getting them hard leather shoes.

Thanks everyone, we went and bought some this afternoon. She loved the whole experience (she is 20 months, so a bit late to get going!). One of her first words was shoes. She was so proud to get them. It felt like such a milestone to me. I loved it.
