TV in bedroom

My virgin post! Hi everyone!

Thought I'd have a nosy, as this site gets so much press attention - also wanted to get some opinions on the contentious TV-in-the-bedroom issue, if you'd be so kind!

DD is 3 and a half, and we're thinking of buying a small TV with built in DVD player, PURELY for those Saturday mornings where it would be bliss to just have an extra hours kip. It wouldn't be hooked up to show channels, it would just allow us to put a Disney film on, and recharge our batteries a bit. (I'm soooo tired! She's more exhausting at this age than she ever was as a baby.) I don't think this is cr*p parenting, but as I said, I know some people feel strongly about it! Any opinions? Thanks

Hi Smile

Go for it, it's not up to anyone else but you, my ds has one in his room I got it when he was 4 and it's a godsend!

Enjoy your Saturday snooze!

Ha ha! Thank you - I fully expected a bit of a lynching! :)

Great to use against naughty behaviour too. "No, DD, you are not having a movie on this afternoon because you have not listened to Mummy all day"

Why is putting a DVD on in the living room not an option?

Mine have always had a tv in the bedroom. I sometimes let them watch a DVD at bedtime at weekends but the novelty soon wears off after they've had tv for a while. Hmm

I have friends who put a spare TV in their child's bedroom when he was about 3 - but it was connected to a VHS downstairs (child is now an adult) so parents had complete control of what he saw and when.
