possibly a silly question: can someone explain to me how a mesh bag for the nappy bin works?

hi

from what i understand you need the nappies to have a bit of movement in the wash to get rid of the poo, how is this possible in a mesh bag? i'm wondering whether you maybe just don't tie it like with a mesh bag for undies? or is there some other trick?

many thanks for your patience with all my newbie questions :)

I think the idea is you use it like a bin liner in the nappy bucket, then hoick the lot out and sling it in the machine. Thats iirc! I agree with you though, they need to be flung about more to get properly washed. Shouldn't be too poo-y though, as this can be tipped down the loo first, rather than left to fester.

Line bucket with mesh bag.
Put nappies in.
When full take out bagand put in machine making sure top of bag is open (if it has any sort of closure)

Not a stupid question at all :-)

You don't tie it up so they all tumble out of the bag in the wash.

If its BF poo it's pretty much liquid anyway so washes out fine. But yes, you need to get rid of solids :-)

Yup, you leave the top of the bag open, and then they come out of their own accord. Do similarly with wet bags

We use flushable liners with our nappies. Means that nearly no poo goes in the machine. All our nappies pop out of the bag and the inners out of the waterproof Wonderoos outers in the wash. One of lifes pleasant mysteries...

Ah, you leave the top of the bag open, I didn't think of that!

Thank you everyone!! It makes a lot more sense now!
