Moby wrap in warm weather

Probably a really silly question! DC is 4 weeks and we're both really getting on with the moby - which is just as well as he won't be put down just yet, not even in the buggy most of the time. I've been taking him out in it wearing his vest and babygro, ie exactly what he'd wear indoors, plus a hat. This seems fine, he's happy and feels cosy to touch. But it's been a cold month - what do I do when it's warmer? Should I take him out in just his vest (or just his babygro)? I don't want to retire the moby, we both love it. Help!

I know how you feel, I spent the first few months of DD's life worried whether she was too hot, or too cold all the time!
I haven't been out with my DD in really hot weather but if I did I think I'd probably just have them in nappy in the sling, but unless there's a heat wave, probably just continuing with a babygro minus the vest would be fine. You'll know if he's too hot cos he'll be sweating.

I worried about this too! I found the stretchy wraps absolutely boiling - it's amazing how warm it is with them all snuggled in, especially with several layers of wrap as well! I actually switched to a Mei Tei when it got hot as it's open at the sides and let's the air around a bit better. I also got a SSC (Rose & Rebellion) which has a similar effect. In terms of clothes I still stuck to what he'd be wearing indoors, like you have been, but in the Mei Tei.

You might find some more useful advice on this on the Natural Mamas forum, they're really helpful!

The moby wrap was my best friend when DD was newborn, (and will be again when the new baby arrives!) and to be honest if it's really hot, just have them in a nappy/nappy and vest and a sun hat. Obviously wearing cooler clothes yourself, should be fine :)

You can get calin bleu gauze wraps which are like a giant muslim but tie just like a moby - we lived in ours last summer. Other than that just really dress lightly, I used to carry mine in just a nappy sometimes and always fewer clothes than other babies who are in buggies. People used to tell me all the time the baby was cold but they never were.

Ooh, good advice on the lighter wraps, thank you (have been BOILING in the moby over the last few days!)

OP, we took 10wo DD out yesterday eve (so a bit cooler than daytime) in moby in sleeveless vest & long socks pulled above the knee - moby covered rest of legs & arms. Meant each bit of her only had 1-2 layers IYSWIM. She was comfy & not too hot or cold like that (though she may've inherited our hot-bod genes...)

Thanks so much, all of you! (I've since noticed the correct area I should've posted this in... D'oh.) We went out today with him in just his vest and sunhat and it was just fine for both of us. :)
