nurseneedshelp That should be how all incidents are referred. It has far better to be over-cautious than miss a child in distress.

Boffles · 21/05/2012 21:42

Well, maybe some people past their teens do it silly ones, but it is unusual. Certainly unusual enough to create suspicion. I wonder at the motives of blokes who enjoy physically fighting thir female partners for fun, tbh, and it would make me raise my eyebrows in itself, let alone if the woman ended up with an injury severe enough to require hospital treatment.

OP, you seem to have disappeared, but if you are still lurking please know you can get help from Women's Aid, just call 0808 2000 247. If you don't do it for yourself do it for your son, don't let him grow up thinking it's ok for your partner to hurt you!

Nurseneedshelp
I can categorically assure you that any involvement with as would scare me to death
There is no way that "I wouldn't mind" ConfusedConfused
What planet are you on thinking that??

Svrider · 21/05/2012 22:04

Ss not as
Too Angry to type
Yes report to ss if you are suspious, but what about innocent families worried to go to a and e in case they are reported, coz after they "won't mind"

nurseneedshelp · 21/05/2012 22:09

Erm planet earth in a DV specialist nurse role!!!!!
If there's nothing to hide then there's nothing to worry about, SS would soon make their judgement after an assessment that involves talking to the children if age appropriate.

Why would you be concerned about a social worker visiting your home if everything was ok?? They're doing their bit to provide support if needed!!

nurseneedshelp · 21/05/2012 22:16

Let me reassure you that if a woman has a serious enough injury that requires treatment she will attend A&E and most of the time in the hope that one of us realises what has actually happened to her!!!!
I'm sure I've made a few inappropriate referrals over the years and the families I've spoken to have said "no problem, you're doing your job and it's good that you're so thorough"

Not sure what your problem is but I'd rather go home at the end of my shift knowing ive done something to safeguard the children that are stuck in the middle of this abuse.

Svrider · 21/05/2012 22:21

Lost last post
I find it incredible you think families don't mind being refered
I have nothing to hide, but how on earth do you prove this
I know my friends feel the same about the ss

svrider surely that's the stigma attached to being referred to SS? Something that we all need to break free of? They're not child snatchers Hmm

MarvellousYou · 21/05/2012 22:42

olivia wish I knew who Mrs. Danvers was? I'm only knee high to a grasshopper, please do tell.

I am VVV curious as to how come messages were deleted within a few minutes on this thread, whereas at other times, when posters hit Report and explain their worries, those posts can remain up for days at a time Confused.

I always thought it was cos hq could not keep an eye and make quick decisions on every post on every thread?? But someone seems pretty on the ball tonight ...

MarvellousYou · 21/05/2012 22:47

I think they know something we don't Bibbity, it's gone very quiet in here Hmm

VivaLeBeaver · 21/05/2012 22:49
