SS got involved after i went to hospital after me and dp were playfighing and i landed on my head went to a&e to get checked out anyway and low and behold my dp got arrested and ss are now involved - please note my ds was in bed when we were messing around. So now we are being looked into! HOW ANNOYING! i feel so pissed off because i dont want fucking ss near my family!! I feel really shit right now that they even think dv is in my family, i wouldnt stand for it from my dp or anyman ....when do they go away? does the record stay forever?!

There are tight guidelines around DV and children in the house. Hospitals have to report any possible DV to police if a child is present. Police then inform SS.
Explain to SS what's happened but there are good reasons for DV= SS

BawdyStrumpet · 21/05/2012 21:17

I think you need to give more info OP.

MarvellousYou · 21/05/2012 21:18

I hate the FB link thing, why oh why? You shouldn't be allowed to on certain topics Angry

Greythorne · 21/05/2012 21:18

No, i was not being sarcastic.

I don't think the OP's post rings true. How many grown ups "play fight"?

But it sounds like a slightly pathetic excuse a shitbag man would come up with to explain why his partner is sporting bruises.

Op - do you have real life support? Can you repost in Relationships? Are you OK?

BawdyStrumpet · 21/05/2012 21:19

Marvellous, but you could always copy the link....

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 21/05/2012 21:19

Some grown ups with DC are only 18 or 19 Greythorne and I sure as heck used to playfight at that age and older too!

Alltheseboys · 21/05/2012 21:20

Social services must have heard that excuse so many times, similar to "I walked into a door" or "I tripped." I know its inconvenient for you but at least theyre looking into it

ConstantCraving · 21/05/2012 21:20

Hi Nurse - your A&E sounds well ahead of ours which wouldn't report on this, or even flag the records (although they should). Responses to suspected DV varies around the country, but good practice would be to try to talk to the suspected victim alone and not do anything that might put her at more risk.

MarvellousYou · 21/05/2012 21:20

Oh good greythorne I did think it was likely something else was going on but with the other sarcastic posts, I was a bit confussed! As you were x

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 21/05/2012 21:21

In fact...at the age of 23 or so, I was pushed through a hedge on the way home from Uni....and there was a metal fence inside it...resulting in most of my thigh going black....ths was my male friend who did that...he was devestated....he thought I would bounce off the hedge but pushed too hard.

BawdyStrumpet · 21/05/2012 21:21

Greythorne, certainly not play fighting that leads to you landing on your head! How hard would you have to hurt yourself to need a&e? Op, I hope you are OK.

Boffles · 21/05/2012 21:23

Play-fighting? Who does this? Hmm

If A&E staff shared that scepticism, then a suspicion of domestic violence is inevitable.

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 21/05/2012 21:24

Boffles...I just said that I did when I was in my 20s...I'm not a freak of nature...nor was I ever abused.

LowFlyingBirds · 21/05/2012 21:25

I would love if that little FB icon at the top didnt just say how many posters had linked the thread but also who they are (mn name, not fb details)
Wonder if it would make people think twice about the appropriateness of linking certain threads. Or would they consider it a breach of their privacy? Hmm

AnyFucker · 21/05/2012 21:25

Greythorne, that's quite a leap you made there

Someone doubting the facts of an OP, taken in good faith (eg. that A+E automatically phone SS when there is an accident in the home) is not minimising DV

that's quite an extraordinary statement you are making there, and in actual fact should be deleted for constituting a personal attack

Oliviaaaaaaaaaaaa !

mcmooncup · 21/05/2012 21:29

Is that you, Lesley Ash?

ForFoxsGlacierMints · 21/05/2012 21:29

I'm 29 and I play fight.

StealthPolarBear · 21/05/2012 21:30

How is she minimizing dv?

MarvellousYou · 21/05/2012 21:31

do you think Olivia is still here AF? She seems to be everywhere tonight.

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 21/05/2012 21:33

She is like Big Brother, she has CCTV on every thread.

TheWomanFormerlyKnownAsSGM · 21/05/2012 21:34

I assumed the Op was minimising her experience of DV:(

MarvellousYou · 21/05/2012 21:35

I do not play fight, DH screams like a girl when tickled though. I think play fighting would never end up with head injuries needing A and E treatment, which makes me wonder if OP is actually trying to come up with something to say to hospital staff to cover actual DV

nurseneedshelp · 21/05/2012 21:36

I personally would rather refer and be completely wrong in my judgement than not bother doing a referral and see the patient the following week with a serious injury.

I'll be the first to hold my hands up and say I've done a referral that wasn't needed, I've found that if that family has nothing to hide they won't mind SS involvement anyway!!

Our A&E is brill, we wouldn't ever talk/assess a female with her partner present, they're never going to open up whilst he's sat there!!

StealthPolarBear · 21/05/2012 21:38

Oh I see thanks sgm.

Yes, I can kind of see tickling leading to accidental injury. But "landing on your head". No.
