my ds 15 weeks keeps wakin during the night every hour of 2, he only started this a few weeks ago was a great sleeper til then. At first i thought he was hungry but i started to only feed him every 4 hours and he doesnt want it in between so hungers not the cause, then i thought that he might be getting cold so bought a thermometer and his room is always fine (he sleeps on his own).

So now i've noticed that last week when dp was working late he woke within 30 mins of me putting tv and lights off and going to bed i usually don't notice because dp comes to bed after me. Also on fri and sat wen dp was up watchin telly til 3/4 am he slept 4 hours 4 hours then woke an hour-ish after dp went to bed. I'm thinking maybe he's waking when he can't hear anything wondering where we are? We live on the edge of a village and his room back on to trees then a field so it's silent and pitch black. I listened on the monitor last night and it sounds like he's coming round from a sleep cycle and instead of falling back asleep fully waking a few mins later. He usually falls asleep mins after i come in i dont have to even lift him most off the time.

Could the dark and silence actually be waking him? would a night light and quiet cd help?

Worth a try :)

Could be true.

I remember when DS was a little tiny baby and struggling with getting daytime naps established I used to put him in his cot with the radio on in the next room. I made sure it was a radio show with lots of talking and not much music, as I think hearing the speaking soothed him.... might not be true, but it worked :)

well when dd was tiny I could only get her to sleep by putting her in front of the tv bad mother

I'm in the 'if it works' camp Grin

he does have his morning nap with this morning on and wakes if i put it off... i'm all for if it works too.

My niece has a story CD she listens to she has kindly offered her little cousin the princess and the pea to listen to during the night, apparently it doesn't matter he's a boy he won't mind but i must get him a boy one hehe gotta love 5 yr olds :)

I'm hoping the calming voice it's read in will help keep him down

DS has a fan running and two Lumilove lights. He still wakes up regularly in the night (21mo) but with his fan and lights on he usually manages to re-settle himself. Without them he yells loud and long enough to wake the whole street.

SecrectFarleysNibbler · 21/05/2012 22:43

You can get white noise CDs - you could put one on his room

Molehillmountain · 22/05/2012 08:02

We use white noise-if you have a smart phone you can get an app!

lola88 · 22/05/2012 18:47

we used the cd last night and he went 4 hours and 4 hours woke but settled himself once that i heard. I'm going to buy a white noise cd next time i'm in town :)

We too thought this might be the case. When DS was younger I was sure that DH turning off the lamp and t.v was waking DS. DH now sleeps with a eye-blind! :)
