Is there a 'Baby Brain: Stupid Things I Have Done Today' thread?

I am at home with my 18-day old daughter.

I've just expressed a feed for my daughter (currently mixed fed for various reasons), then poured it down the sink when washing a load of bottles to go in the steriliser! I actually cried when i realised that I'd thrown away my precious breast milk and had to feed my angry daughter formula instead. I'm cross with myself but know I shouldn't really be as its purely down to tiredness.

Anyone want to join me with tales of stupidity to make me feel better?

Oh no! I would have cried too - you need cake to help yourself make some more.

I made a lovely and healthy chicken casserole for tea last night and I carefully saved a portion for DS (19mo) to have tonight, and then left it out on the kitchen worktop all night to breed bacteria - it is now in the compost bin and DS will be having fishfingers for tea :(

He won't mind, but I do!

Oh no!!! The expressing will still have improved your supply (assuming that is an issue) so wasn't in vain

:o

beela I hate to tell you this but if you made it last night and it was still hot during the evening then it would have been fine this morning on the worktop. In fact things should cool down to room temp before you put them in the fridge as otherwise you endanger everything else in the fridge without doing anything beneficial to the thing you're trying to cool.

Really? Overnight? I didn't want to put it in the fridge hot, but my plan was to let it cool down and then put it in the fridge when I went to bed - but I obviously forgot (sorry OP for hijack!).

I forgot the word for 'kitchen' (duurrr) and DH actually argued with me durin one of the night feeds that DD2 (26 days old) was actually DD1 (3yo). I had to remind him that they are different people and that we have 2 girls now!

Looks like baby brain doesn't just affect Mums.

Or chroni tiredness! :)

Lunarlyte · 15/05/2012 21:35

Hmm, blaming iPhone keypad for allowing me to type 'chroni' instead of 'chronic'; NOT baby brain!!

My husband and I ordered two lots of shopping from ocado, we ordered one each as I was meant to cancel mine as he had a twenty percent off voucher on his account. We would have been up to our ears in shopping had I not also ordered it to go to our old address. Blush
