terry nappies - fold to catch breastfed poo?

On another thread someone mentioned a 'poo-catcher' fold and I wondered if this would help us. We're currently using the kite fold, but when there is a yellow poo explosion it tends to escape down the legs (and also sometimes up the front). Any advice on a better fold? It's for dd if male/female makes a difference?

Thanks

How to explain? Um, well.. here goes.

What I personally used to do was to put an additional fold at each leg just as I brought the part up between the legs. Grab the bit that will come around the top of the leg, and cinch/fold/poke it in again, between the of the top leg and the main part of the nappy, giving a tuck of another (say) inch of folded fabric around the leg-holes. And invest in good covers!

Does that make any sense?

(Motherease are amazing, though not sure whether they will fit a v. small baby.)

Thanks - but just to check, do you basically start with the kite fold? I already sort of tuck the nappy in by the leg holes once I have fastened it to make it look a bit slimmer. I have thirsties wraps which I'm generally really happy with, and a couple of motherease ones. I don't think the wraps are to blame to be honest - main blame to lie with baby I guess! My ds used to poo every day so I guess less each time, whereas dd (10 weeks) is going a couple of days between poos.

If the kite fold is where you start with the square at 90 degrees, fold the top corner down to 2/3 of the length, bring the bottom corner up (how far depending on size required) and then bring the sides in a bit, then yes. Anyway, I found this on the Nappy Lady site. It might help? I think your daughter may be doing bigger poos than mine did, as she definitely produced them more often..!

Thanks for the link! Will see how we get on with this one.
