How do you contain your dirty cloth nappies?

I've got a reasonably large collection of reusables, mostly second (or third, or fourth) hand. Far too many to use, because if I used them all before washing, they wouldn't all fit in the machine in one go! But I'd never get that far, because I can't actually fit that many into the two nappy buckets I've got. One upstairs in the bedroom en suite where most nappy changes happen, and one downstairs as 'overflow'/nappy taken off before bathtime. They're normal-sized nappy buckets (one is One Life, the other's a Mothercare smart nappy bucket) and I really have to force the lid down on them after about 36 hours. So the room smells of dirty nappies, and I know I could go for longer before washing, but have nowhere else to store the stinky ones.

What do other people with, ahem, generous nappy stashes do? Do you just have an industrial-scale dustbin with a lid? Grin

I wash every 2 days as otherwise the bucket lid wont shut!

wet ones just go in the (empty) bath.

poo-ey ones go in a washing-up bowl (full of water) in the bath

wash every 2-34 days.

I've just gota normal bin with a swing lid which I line with a laundry net - I get 3 days worth in (dry pail) before needing to wash.

I think I'm going to need a larger bin! MrsCog, do you find that a swing bin lid keeps the whiff in? Grin

i use nappy bags from planet wise, the wet and dry hanging ones

i have a tots nappy bucket (fab, larger and locks closed) and anotehr bucket the same as one life, but has a purple handle which locks it shut. (i think its bambino mio?)

i can (just) get 4 days worth of cloth nappies in these 2 buckets, though if i saw another tots bots bucket id get it as its bigger / better.

when she was in size 1 i could easily get 4 days worth and could squash in 5 days worth on nappies.

most of my nappies are microfibre which dry over night... nappies are washed as soon as she is in the bath, machine finishes 3 hours later (9.30pm ish) i hang them on airer over night and they are dry in the morning (except for the 4 bamboo night nappies)

I have a tots bots bucket and love it. it's the perfect size. When it's full I need to do a wash or i run out of nappies! I do use bumgenius flips, though, so they take up less room than shaped nappies.

I do a wash when both my buckets are full. I find the stripy buckets with lids from plastic tat shops fit the most snugly and don't smell.

Yes, the swing lid is fine as long as it's swung shut! I also rub some lavendar oil around the rim when I empty it (as well as washing it out). Also, I keep it in a cool part of the house!
