I found this presentation by Gabor Mate fascinating.

I could not find any reference any of Gabor Mate's work so I thought I would post it up.

I have the book of Hold On To Your Kids (by Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Mate) and, while it's occasionally a bit overly-alarmist in tone, it's one of the best parenting books I've read. A couple of people have recommended it on here in the past.

It's the best parenting book I've read! It's a real wake up call. Unfortunately I happened to mention it over on the gaming/console thread which is going on right now and it was not welcomed at all.
You might also like 'Simplicity Parenting' - they go together extremely well.
