3 week old DS quite congested

Title says it all really; DS will be 3 weeks old on Wednesday and is very congested. To the point where he's waking himself after an hour at night and this morning when he sort of slept from 6-7 I certainly didn't as all I could hear was him snuffling and snoring. I'm not really sure what we can do for him, so any advice would be very welcome.

hello the same thing happened to my DS at 3 weeks was advised to get saline drops from the pharmacy you put them in his nose just before a feed, also raise his cot/basket/pram slightly at his head i folded a small towel under, a small bowl of water in the rooms he will be in and turn your bathroom into a sauna with a really hot shower or bath then take him to sit in the steam i just put him in his basket anytime i had a bath or shower. Worked a treat

My little one is 5weeks and is the same. It's horrible isn't it?! I've got some baby olbas oil which I put on a muslin cloth on the radiator last night. I have raised his Moses basket on books too. Oh, and the snot sucker is bloody marvellous!

Hope the snuffles abait soon :)

my DD was the same, it does pass after a few weeks of its own accord. DD was born by section and apparently they are more snuffly than those babies born vaginally as they haven't been pushed down the birth canal.

DS was born vaginally but very fast, so I do think its just left over birth stuff, rather than say a cold.

Thanks for the advice all. My mums just dropped round some saline spray which is something I'll be trying, plus we'll look into raising his head while he's sleeping. We've done that before with DD when she's had colds so that one shouldn't be news to me--ahh sleep deprivation...!

Snap my 5 week old dd is the same starts at night and early morning I don't sleep much at all and eventually she cries in frustration. I thought it would pass quickly I hope it does. We have raised her crib etc not done much so far
