I don't feel like myself anymore. How do I get my motivation back? I feel like just curling up in bed and dying.

I do really feel for you - it is a HUGE adjustment to make. Tell us about your situation. Did you used to work? How old are your DC?

The people I know that cope best seem to treat 'motherhood' like a top-flight job. Schedules, timetables, appointments, keeping themselves pretty busy during waking hours etc. rather than drifting. Having said that, staying home is not for everyone. Many of us prefer to be in the workplace engaging with adults rather than stuck at home 24/7.

Final thought. Depression can strike at any time and various medical conditions can result in feelings of fatigue and low moods. If you're really struggling, it could be worth getting checked out by your GP

The only way I coped with dd was little was to put her in nursery and go back to work to regain some "normality". Even tho I earned effectively nothing after nursery fees! Is this something you could do? Dd is a happy and lively 8 year old, and we have a great bond now. It didn't do her any harm at all - and this was when she was 3 months to school age!

Ironically, I am now pregnant with my second child and I LOVE being at home - but I think that's because I wasn't finished caring about having a career before.... You need to find out what's missing and go from there.
