8 month old DD now screaming for 2 hrs before bed...

What the actual fuck is going on?

My 8 mo DD has always gone to sleep OK. We have a good bedtime routine that we established early and she's down every night by 7.15. She always grizzles a bit but then goes off to sleep fine - until last night.

Yesterday and today, despite the same bedtime routine that she has had her entire tiny life, she has screamed and screamed and screamed solidly for bloody ages. And still is right now.

I dont think its teething as she already has 6 teeth and not had any probs, and I gave her Nurofen last night but it made no difference.

Double check there's nothing that could be upsetting / hurting her (scratchy label on baby gro? Nappy rash?).

It could be teeth, I'd be tempted to give her a bit of Calpol. Or she's going through a growth spurt and is hungry

Otherwise it could just be a phase you have to stick out. Mine went through this periodically and we could never work out what caused it, just had to ride it out.

I'm sure someone with more expertise will be along soon...

OMG.... Do you live near me? Is there something in the air? Your whole post could of been written by me.... My only tactic for getting my usually mega well behaved baby to sleep since sunday has been two whole bottles & letting her sprawl in my bed while drinking milk til she drops off, not good but I can't stand the noise she makes....along with her fake crying til she does weird sniffy/shaky/twitching.

I'm sorry i don't have an answer for you, just jumping in to wait for someone with super knowledge to come along. Hope you don't mind?!x

Jump in Pineapple! Just glad I'm not the only one whose child has gone insane.

Cheers WTCDI. I have already given her Nurofen but so far, not made any difference. Next try - more milk...

Could it be sep anxiety. My DD was had been v easy to settle at night, went bit odd around that age and we had to sit in with her for ages till she fell asleep.

Thanks Point Break. How long did that go on for? And did it just stop by itself or did you have to do something in the end?

I think a week or two. She had her milk in her room as normal, and then would scream and scream when we put her into bed (dozy). We found she calmed right away if we just pulled up a seat and sat near the cot (only if she started screaming). Not close enough so we could touch, but she knew we were there. Once was she asleep we would creep out. Same for naps. It was a bit of a pain, but was the solution that caused least upset for everyone! Might be worth a shot? We didn't pick her up, just didn't leave the room and the crying would stop. If we left it went on and on and on.
