So, when did you DC drop their naps?

My 20 month old DD has suddenly gone from taking a 2.5 hour nap that I had to wake her from, to taking somewhere between 1-1.5 hours. I am wondering if this is us on the wind down to phasing it out.

I just wondered when your DC dropped the nap?

TIA

I am on tenterhooks waiting for responses! My DS, also 20 months, has 2 - 2.5 hour nap every day. It is my saviour, as I relax, rejuvanate for the afternoon and do all my housework then. The thought of him not having it makes me shake with nerves!

Dd had stopped entirely by 22 months, sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear!
They dropped quite quickly from long to short to every few days to the point where it would take longer to get her down than she would nap for - at which point I gave up. I have to say it was a relief as she was never easy to get to nap in the first place (but slept brilliantly at night) and it opened a whole new world of places we could go and things we could do together.
My ds was nearer three (but was such a whirlwind it's hardly surprising!)

DS dropped his RIDICULOUSLY early, around 18months. I used to walk miles with him in the pushchair to try and get him to nap. Consequently come 5.30pm/6pm he was shattered and went out like a light. Which was great as it gave me ample time in the evenings to sit numbly on the settee.

But then of course, he'd be awake at 5am, little lamb that he was Grin

DS 25 months. Still has up to 3 hrs at lunch time. Rarely less than 2 hours. And sleeps 11 hours at night. Grin

My DD (now 3) stopped having daytime naps at around 2.5 years although they got less often before then.

DD - dropped day time sleep at 12 months! It would be a rare occasion after that she would nap in the day.

It nearly killed us!

But she slept like an angel 7 pm to 7 am every night so we forgave her.

my 23 month old is about ready to drop his nap i think, days he has a nap (only about an hour) he is now a nightmare to get to bed at night

pointbreak · 26/04/2012 21:12

I am okay with the prospect of her dropping it, as she is (touch wood) good to us at night. Just wondered what the average was. Moving from two naps to one seemed to come out of nowhere, so I'll be keeping a close watch...

DS1 stopped at 20 mths, DD stopped at 21 mths and DS1 stopped at 3 yrs.

wearymum200 · 26/04/2012 21:31

DS1 15 months, DD2 2.5 ish. DD2 is now 3, she is still ridiculously tired by bedtime, but won't nap. She is sometimes asleep by 6pm. Some people's dc are still napping at 4. totally variable ime!

Pascha · 26/04/2012 21:33

DS is doing a comfortable 2.5 hours now at 19 months. It's actually increased from 1.5 to 2 hours a couple of months ago. Long may it continue.

pointythings · 26/04/2012 21:59

They're all different...

DD1 - needed 1 to 1.5 hours until she was past 4 Shock. I was worried she would not cope at school (she did).

DD2 - dropped all daytime naps before she turned 2.

We just went with it for both of them, they have always both been really good sleepers.

MrsHoolie · 26/04/2012 23:02

DS dropped his last month at 22m.

I was surprised as DD was 2.6

He still doesn't reliably sleep through though Hmm

You will probably find your DD will either protest at going up for her nap/will be up at bedtime/will wreck her bedroom play at nap time. Or a combination of all three.
