My DH has been away on a work trip since tues leaving me with ds (4) and dd (21m) home alone til tomorrow morning. The pair of them have behaved hideously, screaming at me, refusing to do anything I ask, being rude and unresponsive (the older one) and downright cross and demanding (the younger one). They're normally beautifully behaved and loving kids. I'm not enjoying this, can not wait for DH to get back and would be happy not to see them for a whole week. Is this unreasonable of me?

Oh your poor frayed nerves. Mucho sympathy.

Hope he gets back soon!

Poor you. Its tough being at home with two little ones stressing the hell out of you. You are only human and sometimes they know exactly what buttons to press to drive you mad!!! Hope you find a way of getting through the rest of your day.

I don't like my youngest ds (10) today either!!
I'm a single mum with 3 ds and I'm finding as they're getting older its getting much harder work.
Eldest ds (15) is v lazy and eats like a horse.
Middle ds (13) is generally ok but doesn't stop talking to me!!!!!!
Youngest is driving me insane....mouthy, rude, entitled, lazy(ish), no respect for anyone or anything!!
They followed my houserules when they were younger and I'm struggling to keep control these days Sad

I have two girls similar in age to your two and it is really hard on your own. Whenever my husband goes away they drive me crazy too. How your feeling seems perfectly reasonable to me. Hang in there and make sure you get that time for yourself when hubby gets home.

Thank you so much all of you. That's made me feel so much better. They're in bed now and I'm drinking wine. Never been so glad a day is over. And looking forward to making DH pay over the next week. Not one nappy am I changing!! Wink

Do you have plans for tomorrow? Have you got a friend/ relatives house you could pop to for some adult conversation. If all else fails is there a play barn near by that could tire them out for a bit before a sloppy on the sofa DVD afternoon?
