Lefty or righty - should it be sorted before starting school?

My 4yo DS is showing no signs of preference for left or right handedness, it hasn't bothered us but I was wondering if I leave it until he goes to school and decides, or if they expect that sort of thing to be sorted by then? I don't want the choice to be forced on him. Any advice?

No one will force the choice on him, quite a lot of children in EYFS haven't completely settled on LH/RH yet. There will be scissors and equipment to help him develop his fine motor skills, and eventually the dominant hand will emerge without coertion.

My DBro is 32 and still hasn't decided :o . Some people just don't. They all work out how to manage anyway. :)

Fallen that's just what I wanted to know - I've never been in the British school system (and it was a long time ago anyhoo!) so wasn't sure how it was handled
