I did this 5 years ago now so I have forgotton a lot of it but typical questions:

Why do you want to be a midwife?
How do you cope with stress?
What is the role of a midwife?
What is the difference between a midwife and a nurse? (well clients)
Why do you think you would be a good midwife?
Some places gave out poems to discuss or did group activities like building a tower out of newspaper.

They are looking for enthusiasm and good communication skills and empathy. Think "holistic care", "informed choice", "advocacy", "expert in the normal"

good luck xx

Also if you can get hold of any midwifery journals - British journal of midwifery is sometimes in Smiths - they will be impressed. Especially if you can talk about something in it

definitely get m/w journals or look on the web for up to date news in the world of midwives... they will be impressed if you are keeping up to date with what is going on.

erm... and ditto all nettee said really. at one of my interviews we also had to do a group role play thing!

Hi there I was wondering if you were going for the 18 month or 3 year course? I have my application form for the 18 month, and my friend who is not a nurse is applying for the 3 year over hear in Belfast.
Any hints on filling in application form.
