My DD is 2.3yr and has stayed over with family before for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it. She now understands and talks a lot more and I don't know what to tell her about going to stay with family and then DH and I not being around for a couple of days. Any ideas?

Has she been on holiday? Everyone who goes away in my family, goes to the seaside... she went to the seaside last year and understands that, so now everyone goes to the seaside, regardless of where they are in fact going! My DD 2yrs 2 months understands that concept perfectly.

I used to leave a morning and night-time note with a little pressie.
Even now, if we're going away, they still ask if they'll get presents!
I always said it was work not pleasure (very naughty!)

Great ideas - thanks for replying! I love the notes suggestion and she will definitely be getting a pressie. I'm looking forward to next year when she will come skiing with us!
