Lesser of two evils - snacking baby or overtired baby?

2mo DS2 will only nap for 45min at a time. I'm trying to keep to an eat/play/sleep routine but given the short naps this either means feeding him every 2hrs at least or letting him get overtired before the next nap.

Which is worse? Grin

Aargh

Some babies just won't fall into a routine, could you be more led by him?

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 05/04/2012 13:22

I'd drop the routine for the time being. My dd was like this and didn't settle into longer naps until more like 4mo. I tried to do that routine, but there really was no point at that age!

Isn't feeding every 2 hours quite normal in a young baby? Mine is 4 months now and sometimes it's 3 hours but sometimes 2. This baby tends to have 45 minute naps too. Again I thought that was within the realm of normal . . . ? Obviously as this is what mine is doing I'd like to know if it's not right! She seems happy enough on it and has settled into her own pattern.

You're all right.....it's just....DS1 was GREAT at this routine when he was this age

I feel like he's getting overtired anyway, but there's not a lot I can do except put him down for lots of naps.

And it's ok to just keep offering boob, isn't it? Even if he only takes a wee bit? It's just the Book says......

Just whack him on the boob, burn the bookGrin

I was brought fimly down to earth by dd, did BLW with ds and he ate everything, any new food, odd food, anything, obviously put it down to my amazing mothering skillsGrin Did the same with dd, she eats nothing (except ketchup, which she will eat with a spoonHmm).

They are all total individuals and the second can be a shock if the first has been easy.
