Anybody got any advice on getting him to tell me?

Many thanks

I agree with nemo. Pull ups are just confusing.

When we did dd1, we had a potty in every room. She got big praise everytime she used them. When she wet herself, I didn't change her instantly. I wanted her to realise that it was uncomfortable, and therefore prererable to use the toilet or potty (am I cruel?). We had one of those portable pottys for out and about.

If your ds is ready, he will quickly be trained. If he's not, give him and yourselves a break and try in a couple of weeks. Good luck!!

Down with pull-ups!!! Yes, I agree - maybe save them for naps until he gets dry there.
I always had the potty in the same room as my ds (he was just over 2) and kept asking him evry 20 mins or so if he needed it. The first couple of days sometimes he got a spot or two on his pants but otherwise he was dry in a few days. Now he goes in the toilet too, like daddy does.
I went for the sticker method and bought him a pack of pens (anything he'll get excited about will do) - when he got 8/10/12 stickers he got a pen and could do a drawing for daddy. It worked a treat, but keep increasing the number of stickers a bit (I put my chosen no. in a little box and he chose one each time so he didn't notice the increase in no).
Also, my ds loved the boxer shorts we got from M&S, something he chooses himself might encourage him to keep them dry.
Good luck.
