Hi my dd is 2.4 and we have been potty training for 13 gruelling days with no success in the potty!!!! I do however think she's ready in terms of knowing she wants a wee/poo as she dances around when she wants one, she can hold it for hours and she tells me when she has done one - which is abig improvement from when i tried to train her last time! however whenever i suggest going on the potty if I can see she needs one she resists and shouts no and runs around. Occasionally i am able to put her on it at other times when i think she may be ready but she never does anything in it. Today i tried her with the toilet isntead - boughta winnie pooh training seat and step. She was intrigued with it but wouldn't sit on it - and when it ried her she screamed out. She then stood by it looking at it -w hich i thought id let her do so she got used to it - and then wee'd all over the floor! She got a little upset and ran away.Since then two other wees at which she now says oh dear! Other times she has just told me wee wee and carried on playing. Being wet doesn't seem to bother her - any dieas please!!!!!!

If she's screaming at the idea of using the training seat then I'd leave it for a bit longer, to be honest. She might be physically ready but it sounds as if emotionally she's not.

Sounds to me like she's almost there, leave the potty out but don't put any pressure on her to use it, it could still be a couple of months away and the potty needs to be a familiar non-threatening thing. When she really wants to do it she won't be uspset at all, she'll be proud. Don't worry about it! My son did exactly the same when I first tried, I left it alone and then when he finally was ready it took one day to train him completely - he was 2.6.

thansk rhian - do u agree that i should just carry on with pants - i think going back to nappies now will undo all the progress (what little and slow ti seems)

I think that's up to you, it might be a bad idea to get her used to peeing in her pants. I went back to nappies and then tried again from scratch and it certainly didn't hold ds back. The most important thing is that there is no stress for her related to the whole process. It will happen! Don't worry.
