After months of waiting for them to sort out my application, four or five assorted letters and emails asking for details which I definitely included in the application, I finally got a text message yesterday, saying the money would be in my account tomorrow.

Great! Except, I've logged into internet banking this morning and they've paid me roughly a quarter of what I was expecting. :( There is no way I can afford to top up the rest, I'm still paying off last year, because I applied too late.

Does anybody know have they changed the rules for part time students? I was expecting to get the full allowance, or close to it. I don't mind, but I wish they'd said before, because I wouldn't have started it if I didn't think I could afford to.

I haven't heard that they have changed anything. I'm a full time student though.
Did you get a letter saying what and when you will get and a breakdown?

Have you rang and gone apeshit asked them?

Haven't had a letter yet, so I'll have to wait for that I imagine.

I have logged into my online account though and it says, mysteriously, "Installment: First" so I guess that means they're paying it in instalments and I'll get more later. So have calmed down a bit, but still a bit confused, why can't it just be straightforward?

That sounds like a nightmare.
Does it show when your next payment is due? (Mine is paid every few months and it details when each payment will come in over the year)

Someone from your student union should help you with this. A woman on my course has had similar problems, and they have dealt with a lot of it for her.
