why keep correcting me?

Does anyone know why my daughter does this.

We were going up for bath this evening and i told her this. She understood me and we started going up stairs. She then said that i had said that bar instead of bath and asked me why i said that. I said that i had said bath. She said no i had said bar. I told her i said bath but it doesn't really matter. She kept on so i explained that all that mattered was that she understood me which she did. She just kept on about it. I told her to stop and that i wouldn't discuss it anymore. Eventually she did.

During her bath she did the same on another subject and again wouldn't let it go and i got quite annoyed and shouted at her. :(

I had a very stern talk with her, too stern, about how she doesn't need to correct people all the time. That it upsets them. Etc.

We went to read our story and she pointed out every missed placed word i said (knows the story off by heart) and one i said in the wrong way.

I suspect she does this more when tired or a bit anxious but why does she do it at all? Anyone know.

A child's complete and utter confidence that they are always right. She is clearly a loved and confident child to do this.

Mine does it all the time, it drives me nuts.
