Not coping

I have 2 dc. They are 9m and 23m. I work 2 days a week. DP works every waking hour pretty much. Lately I feel I'm not coping. All I seem to do is shout at my DD (23m) and struggle to keep up with housework, I Am so behind with the washing. The house is A tip and for the first time ever, I think it's actually dirty.
I hate being a mum. If I could, I would give them away.
DD had got into a horrible habit of biting and pinching the baby. She does it every single time I leave them together for a minute. She also bites and pinches me.

I'm at the end of my tether

I'm so sorry things are hard right now. I only have 1 dc, so haven't been there, but it sounds to me like you have a hell of a lot on your plate and you're coping the best you can. My suggestions are:

  1. Go easy on yourself. It's not the end of the world if the housework doesn't get done. Recognise that coping with 2 children on your own, plus working, plus doing all the housework is a huge amount to expect of one person.
  1. Ask for help. If you aren't coping then your dp needs to step up. I know it's hard if he's busy at work, but he needs to make time to contribute to the family. He might not know you're struggling. Also, is there anyone else who could help out a bit (mum, mil, friend)? Someone who could have the dc while you catch up on sleep or have a bit of time to yourself?
  1. If you've been feeling this way for a while it might be worth seeing your gp in case you're depressed.

On my bad days I chant my mantra 'this too shall pass' and 'it's just a phase'.

Oh dear it doesnt sound like much fun does it?

I have two but a bigger age gap than you. I'll help if I can.

Biting the baby: remove and timeout every time it happens. She will learn eventually.

Being a shouts mum: try to take a deep breath and lower and soften your tone. I think it's more effective.

Housework: make a list and prioritise. Make it short and sweet e.g. Each day one wash, dishes, kitchen surfaces and bleach down toilet. Anything else is a bonus.

It really will pass.
