Hi, this is my first post on Mumsnet!
My ds, who is almost 4, has been dry day and night for about a year. However, he has never been reliably clean. He has suffered from constipation since he was 6 months old, on and off (since he got solids) and my GP says some kids are just inclined that way and has had an anal fissure at least once. he eats a good diet - lots of weetabix and non-banana fruits and veggies and only brown bread, and the doctor has put him on a small dose of senokot in the morning just to keep him regular for now.
BUT - I think he has got frightened of the potty/toilet. When he needs to poo he hides himself away and does it in his pants, about 2 times out of 3. I understand it has been very sore for him with the fissure, but do any of you have any tips about how to encourage him to sit on the potty and do it there! There havent been any stressful things happenign in the family recently, nothing has changed, but it is starting to get to me a bit, and to him too, he is bothered by it.
Any input would really be much appreciated.
