A typical afternoon conversation in our household... (something to giggle about)

DS (7) is supposed to do his homework, i.e. write his sight words a few times and the following conversation ensues:

DS: I know how to write the words, so I don't have to practice them

me: it's always good to practice even if you know how to spell it

DS: well then I need a rubber/eraser

me: how about you go and find one? [giving options of where to go look]

DS: I can't find one

me: [goes over to general junk depository table - admit it you have one too? Grin]
me: and what are those? - [pointing at collection of Smiggle eraser animals - approx 6-7 of them...]

DS: I don't used those as erasers/rubbers...

me: [goes over to wall and bashes head (own) against wall as more yealding than DS's logic...]

But surely if he knows how to spell them he won't need a rubber :o

Thus kind if conversation happens daily here. She collects rubbers but would never use most of them for actual rubbing out!

Grin yeah that's what I said as well. Oh and I encouraged him to write a bit more neatly and a tad smaller than in the first attempt and lone behold we got mini writing LOL

Oh it gets so much worse.

DS1: (12) I need a ruler for this

Me: Well go and get one then

DS: I can't it's upstairs, I will just use this (usually something that doesn't have any sort of a straight line). Angry

so much more fun to come yet eh? LOL

DD (10) isn't too bad yet. She 'only' has 3 different pencil cases, 2 rulers and a collection of erasers, that she can never find... the main thing I get from her is 'well I don't know where it is' (with 'the tone') and 'never mind' (again with 'the tone') which sets my blood boiling Grin Hmm

Grin MrsBigD.

DS2's (9) pencil case consists of pencil shavings, busted pencils and filthy erasers. Grin

Ds1 loses everything on a regular basis.

It gets better as they get older [ grin]
last night conversation

Me: pack you bag for school so your not worried you have forgotten something in the morning

DD2 : In a minute
Me: Do it now love or you will forget something and we dont want detention again,
DD2 : I will in a minute
Im at work now - text from dd2 - where is my art homework?
Me : where did you leave it, I dont know Im at work?
DD2 ; I cant find it
Me : Im at work what can I do now?
Yo get the picture, and I can guarantee when I get home there will be hairbrushes, face powder and generally things launched with abandonment around the room! Grin

DD has a habit of leaving her pencil case in her school drawer then frantically searching for pens etc.

I keep telling her she doesn't need 342 pencils at school - she could leave a couple here as she's unlikely to remember to bring her stuff home with her.

And she is currently trying to find stuff for school despite assuring me she was all packed last night.
