Who to contact re DD1's hearing?

DD1 is 3.7 and in the past few weeks have picked up on her (lack of) hearing and think she might need a check.
Sometimes I need to repeat things quite a few times and sometimes she will look at me blankly until I repeat it. Its different to the normal 'Selective' hearing! :)

Would it be the GP or HV to contact? Is she too old for a HV now?

I think the health visitor
Has she had all her checks?

I would contact the GP for a referral to the Audiology Clinic. Smile

HV up until they start in reception then it's a handover to the school nursing service.

In lots of areas the health visiting service and school nursing have been joined up and are now known as 0-19 teams.

Oh, I'm sorry. I am probably out of date. I would expect either to refer you to Audiology though.

hi, I work as an slt, so deal with lots of children who have some degree of hearing difficulty. My advice would be to contact the audiology depot at your local hospital and ask them if they accept self referrals, if so tel them you woulda like to refer your LO if not go to your gp our hv, and they erik refer you.

Hth :-)
