toddler pulling covers over head at night

For the last few nights, DS (2yrs 9mths) has been pulling the bed covers completely over his head at night. Whenever we go in to check on him he is completely hidden under the covers and sweating!

Anyone else known this to happen?

Do you think he could overheat or would he get himself back out again if he got too hot?

Help!

my 1yr old dd has done this ever since she could move, even ends up at other side of the cot with her backside in the air

i've never had any problems with dd, but as its a 'new thing' i would keep an eye on him

This probably wont be much help, but just an idea; could you move him down the bed then tuck the covers under the mattress, so there's only
Enough sticking out to cover his body?

My DS is 2.3. His 'settling down to sleep ritual is to reach out for his muslin 'sniggy-buggy' and put it right over his face..... He's done it for ages now. The room is warm and pitch dark but... like a buggie in a cage likes to be covered over fully to sleep. At 2.9 I'm sure your DS would get from under his covers if he needed to.

Good idea Diamond - think we definitely will tuck the end of the quilt under the mattress so there isn't enough for him to pull up over himself.

blackout - isn't it great the positions they manage to get get into?! DH and I often just sit and stare at him, wondering how he can possibly be comfortable!!

Thanks jjazz - I think he probably could too, but it just makes me worry a bit!

My DD is 5 myths and she overs her face with her muslin at any opportunity - she likes it, is not in any panic - I keep an eye and whip it away once aleep

tethersend · 17/03/2012 00:37

DD sleeps with her head under the pillow.

At that age it isn't a problem because he is big enough to push the covers off. If he is over heating then you might want to reduce the tog if its a duvet Smile
