dd1 (3) is cracking me up - shes got a rotten cold and doesnt know what to do with herself. she was at playgroup this morning, no bother, i picked her up and she fell asleep on the bus home (10mins!). when we got in i put her on the couch thinking she would go back to sleep while i went upstairs and put dd2 in her cot for her nap (shes sleeping)

dd1 didnt go to sleep and ever since then shes been following me around the house, throwing herself about, moaning and asking for stupid things (like going into the kitchen and picking up salt cellar and saying "can i have this for lunch?" when i say no she will fling herself on the floor and cry.

i KNOW shes feeling crap, i gave her calpol, sat and cosied in with her on the couch, tried doing puzzles with her, nothing is making her happy or feel better, maybe if she had a nap she would feel better but shes resisting. shes bored. shes hot. shes driving me nuts. dd2 will wake soon and ill have 2 nose-streaming coughing, girny dd's

mumatuks · 01/02/2006 14:18

Its exactly the same here NP.

DS1 (2) is full of cold, but slept in the car as soon as we get home he wakes up wants carrying everywhere, wants to cuddle, and is hot temp. Given him calpol and put him in bed. DS2 (7m) is also crying, pooing and wanting to BF.

I feel sorry for both of them I really do, but I can't split myself in two!! How did my mum do this for my brother and me and make it look so dammn easy?! And she had the house work done aswell. [puzzled face]

oliveoil · 01/02/2006 14:19

when dd1 is resisting a nap, I put her on the sofa in front of the tv, sort of lying down, and once she is quiet and watching something, the eyelids start closing. Little Bill works for some reason!

I have 2 ill ones as well, dd2 has had me up most nights for the past few weeks and I am at the end of my tether.

Sympathies.

think i might go for a walk but that will consist of dd1 whinging about having to walk a certain distance. then a tantrum when we come within 100 miles of a shop and i wont buy her a sweetie (she got a sweetie after playgroup)

sorry just having a bad day and wish i had someone to visit at the end of the walk

NP you sound really down.. where are you? WEould you like me to CAT you with my phone number and we'll have a chat? If it would help you?

I've got no one around here, not family, and my DH didn't use to get in til nearly 7.00 at his old job so I understand how you feel.

If you think it'd help let me know, either that or just tell me to go away!
