Toddler totlaay against potty! Runs when confronted!

My 2.3 toddler has taken a total dislike to his potty, he seemed ready for potty training he clears the room when he needs to go in his nappies, he is fascinated with the toilet(loves to flush) and when he casually barges into the bathroom he understands myself and my partner are 'goin pee', the toilet isnt rele an option as, as fascinating as it is he point blank refuses to sit on it (unless the seat is down) have i started too soon or is there anything i could try?

Have you tried one of those insert seats for the regular toilet? The hole in the normal seat can seem pretty cavernous to a small child whereas a special seat might be more inviting. I also found that DS preferred to face front and pee like Dad... Slightly messier but it got the ball rolling.
