I replaced the batteries in no less than 3 of DS's noisiest toys. A fire engine, a train, and a hoover (or 'hoov' as he calls it).

Why do I so such foolish things?!

Hmm. Did you throw out the old batteries? If not, it's not too late to rectify your error...

yep, old batteries have been discarded (he actually went and found a screw driver himself and was bashing at the base of his fire engine shouting 'mend it mummy!' all last week). I even got spare batteries for his police car .

DH has been rolling his eyes at me all weekend.

I am such a fool...

Hope you used cheap batteries not duracell ...
