DD2 has been toilet trained since just before xmas. Has done so well with hardly any 'accidents' BUT.... She had a tummy bug which left her constipated which obviously caused her pain when she went to toilet. Now she will not poo until her body takes over and it happens naturally!! Which will be just wherever she happens to be at the time. It can take hours for her to go you can she is holding on to it. She wiggles screams cries holds on to her bum telling me it hurts... She is obviously in a lot of pain!! When she does go she gets so distressed screaming and crying. And there is frequently blood in the poo when she goes. When she has gone she is totally back to her normal self until next time..Docter say this is normal and quite commomn although i have never heard of it before and is distressing for me and my dh to see our dd to be going this.

Sounds like she has an anal fissure- a tear in the lining of the anus, and I'm not surprised she screams- it's bloody sore!

What she needs is a few weeks with really soft poos- to make her pass them without pain, and to heal up the fissure. Then she will be able to get back to a routine.

Go back to your doctor and ask for a stool softener (laxative). In addition to this give her plenty to drink, and loads of fruit (avoiding bananas- I hear they can be constipating). When she does need a poo sit her wherever whe feels most comfortable(potty or loo) and make sure her feet are supported- if she is on the loo put a stool or chair next to it to rest her feet on, this gives her something to push against. Next get out the sweets, toys, books, sing songs- anything to get her relaxed where she is, and give her plenty of reassurance. When she has done make a BIG song and dance about it so she can see how pleased you are.

She will get over it!
