how much do you pay for your nanny each month? I'm trying to do some sums and going cross eyed! Also, please could you elt me know if they live in or out and if they're part time or full time?
THANK YOU

I pay my full time live out nanny around £1400 per month Gross. Prior to that I had a full time live in nanny for £250 per week gross, plus she used our food etc-.

My first nanny was 15 years experienced and my second was young and only on her second nannying job. Recruited the first though gumtree and the second through the circle of nannies my first nanny had got to know. I think pay rates do vary according to the job description/experience/age of nanny. I live on the north east london/Essex borders so suspect I am paying more Essex rates than inner london rates. Parts of west/north London will have higher rates.

Don't use an agency - their fee is extortionate! I had a couple of quotes and they were shocking. I have managed to recruit two lovely nannies myself so it can be done.

Repost on the nanny-childcare section of mumsnet? There are lots of parents and nannies who post regularly and can also advise.

Good luck!

Thank you Katy- so helpful! Last question- how many children do you have?

Cuppa - I only have one DD now aged 4 but my understanding is that you employ a nanny per family so it shouldn't make a difference unless you have 20!! Some do negotiate a slight pay rise for example if they go over 2/3 kids in the period of employment e.g. if they get pregnant again. Do try posting in nanny/childcare section as there are nannies there that may have more experience of multiples children.
