Is anyone else's 5YO worried about being fat?

DS has said a couple of things that have concerned me about 'getting fat'. He told me this morning that he liked the trousers he was wearing today because they made his legs look thinner.

He has just been weighed and measured at school and he is +25 for height and -50 for weight so is not remotely fat, he's actually pretty skinny.

Is there anything I can do or say to stop this in its tracks? He is a horribly fussy eater at the best of times as it is.

ds has mentioned a couple of times and stuck his tum out saying 'I am fat' after eating. I pointed out that his internal organs were causing a different shape until he grows taller, he seemed ok with that. He's quite keen on pointing out my wobbly bits too alas.

Are you worried about it fishie or am I being a bit OTT?

I think it is just part of normal self-awareness. He might not mean it the way you hear it either, maybe he prefers trousers which are more tightly fitting in the leg.
